FACEBOOK ‘LIKES’ FEED HUNGRY IN NEW CAMPAIGN FROM INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN RELIEF ORG GOOD NEIGHBORS USA

Facebook Fan Page Campaign Will Donate 25 Cents To Child In Need For Every ‘Like’

Los Angeles – November 30, 2011 –Good Neighbors USA (www.goodneighbors.org), an international humanitarian relief and development NGO, has launched a new Facebook campaign to raise money to feed children in Haiti, Guatemala and Chad. Titled “Food For Kids,” Good Neighbors and one of its generous donors will donate 25 cents to a hungry child for every fan who “likes” the Good Neighbors Facebook Fan page.

In many developing nations, 25 U.S. cents can purchase one bowl of food. With this simple Facebook fan page campaign, Good Neighbors’ goal is to feed 32,000 children by the end of the year and are relying on the viral nature of Facebook to achieve this goal.

“Thanks to our generous donor, we are leveraging the power and reach of Facebook to support our ambitious goal of feeding 32,000 hungry children in developing countries,” said David Strand, President, Good Neighbors USA. “By tapping into the already active and inspired Facebook community, we are making a simple, common act one that can provide a meal to a child in need so that Facebook participation is made even more meaningful.”

Good Neighbors USA’s mission is to provide relief, education and support for people in developing nations. Many of its programs focus on improving the lives of children and families in, among other countries, Haiti, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and Chad. The organization recently raised more than one million dollars for victims of Japan’s earthquake, and helped build 100 clean water wells in Chad, Africa.

Good Neighbors International is one of only 1500 NGOs in the world with U.N. General Consultative Status, the highest achievable level for NGOs. In 2004, Good Neighbors was awarded with a Millenium Development Goal for its education programs by the United Nations.
