Good Neighbors Nepal & KOICA Delivers Basic Medical Equipment for COVID-19
On May 30th, Good Neighbors Nepal (Representative Jae-Gyun Noh) had a ceremony with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Nepal office to deliver basic medical equipment.
At the ceremony held at the KOICA Nepal office, Ambassador Young-sik Park of the Republic of Korea, Nepalese Ambassador Rochean Folkrel, Senior Expert of the Ministry of Health of Nepal, Seong-Hoon Ko, head of the Nepal office of KOICA, and representative of Good Neighbors Nepal, Jae-Gyun Noh attended the ceremony.
As of May 14th, Nepal had a total of 245 diagnosed persons, and it is urgent to support basic medical equipment as the number of confirmed patients continues to increase.
As a response, Good Neighbors Nepal and KOICA Nepal office distributed 200 personal protective equipment (PPE) kits and 1,000 each of N95 masks, surgical masks, and gloves to Nuwakot Trishuli District Hospital located in West of the capital Kathmandu.
Nuwakot Trishuli District Hospital is where Good Neighbors and KOICA cooperated for the 2015 Nepal earthquake, and Nepal government recently designated the hospital in response to the COVID-19.
Jae-Gyun Noh (the representative of GN Nepal) said, “Nepal recently had a rapid increase of the spread of COVID-19 due to people crossing the border, and there are not enough diagnostic kits and medical equipment for medical staffs. We are glad to be able to provide basic medical equipment to health centers and medical staff in need.”
Meanwhile, Good Neighbors Nepal actively responds to COVID-19 with the INGO Association of AIN (Association of International NGOs in Nepal) such as jointly donating basic medical equipment to the Ministry of Health of Nepal. In addition, Good Neighbors continues to provide professional services to support children and vulnerable individuals who are struggling with COVID-19.
