Somang Well No.44
  Back to the Projects List

Project Type: Water Well

Country: Chad

Recipients: 600

Project Detail
The main problem of this village is that they are too far from other villages that have local wells and the closest river is far as well. Since they are drinking directly from the dirty water, many children suffer from cholera. Drilling this hand pump well will provide them with fresh drinking water and they will not have to spend all that energy going to and from the local wells and river. Chad is Africa`s fifth-largest nation suffers from inadequate infrastructure and internal conflict. Poverty is rife, and health and social conditions compare unfavorably with those elsewhere in the region. After the war ended, people started to come back to the villages to reside. However, as the war devastated the area, there is no infrastructure founded. In particular, there is a serious water scarcity problem. Good Neighbors, Somang Society and The Korea Daily are joining the efforts to provide drinking water and prevent children from diseases caused by consumption of dirt water.
