Through the work of Good Neighbors Japan, we’ve been distributing goods and supplies in the early stages of our emergency relief; however, we’ve decided to go one step further and supply more manpower and implement longer-term projects in order to establish relief activities that will directly improve the lives of those affected.
Since early April, we've delivered an additional 68 boxes of blankets and feminine hygiene products from our base camp in Kitakami. Since every shelter is struggling with poor sanitary conditions, we’re happy to confirm that 12 shower booths will be installed in the Kamaishi and Otsuchi region’s 5 shelters, where 2,000 people will have access to the shower booths. Six of the 12 shower booths were installed at Kuribayahi elementary school and Kannon Tourism Center on April 22nd and the remaining six shower booths will be installed in early May in the Otsuchi region. |
