Simple Solutions for Indonesia

Last week, twin bombs went off at the Ritz Carlton and the Marriott hotels in Jakarta, Indonesia.  The world cast its eyes toward this shocked country, in its time of tragedy.

But tragedy exists everyday within its borders. Poor sanitation and health conditions overwhelm the people on a daily basis. The conditions dim the once bright dreams of the people of the communities.

Within these communities, Good Neighbors is working to educate the people concerning the importance of both environmental and personal sanitation. Good Neighbors is committed to the educational process, for it is through education that a brighter tomorrow is ensured. But education is not limited to the children; it also includes health education to the populace at large. Through the increased knowledge, the people can proactively begin to make changes necessary in their own lives to improve their conditions.

Good Neighbors is also actively involved in the community by establishing programs that directly and immediately impact the community. Good Neighbors has established a Garbage Carts Program and a Health Education Program. These seemingly simple and obvious programs have a profound effect on the community. Good Neighbors provides 5 garbage units to gather and remove garbage and waste for transportation to a sanitary location, far from the neighborhood and streets where children wander and play. Though simple, it makes a difference.

The Health Education program educates the people on practical measures that they can take to prevent diseases and other afflictions. Each event educates 80 people, slowly but surely, affecting the community.

But more can be done. With the help of generous and warm-hearted individuals like you, we can add even more garbage units and conduct even more health education programs and events. Each garbage unit covers two areas that are affect 1,200 people. Imagine how many more people we can reach with your help!
