Goal 7: Ensure Environmental Sustainability

Goal 7: Ensure Environmental Sustainability

Target 10: By 2015, the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation will be reduced by half

Through the community development projects in Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia, GN has improved the water conditions in the rural villages, protecting their environmental sustainability. GN has developed 39 well drillings for more than 8,806 people, 22 installations of water tanks for 6,600 people and provided 53 water purifiers for 1,532 people in these 3 countries. In Indonesia, GN built the 22 restrooms for 5,544 school students in the Meulaboh region, which was severely devastated by the Tsunami in 2005.

In Ethiopia GN built a water tank with large quantities of water and purification facilities for 400 households and 4 public water supply systems in the Yaka region in 2003, and through the Lideta community development project, 10 restrooms were built the same year for the people in the Lideta community. In order to keep the facilities and systems for themselves, GN held conferences for the community. 1,915 people attended the conference and GN supervised 321 sessions, until the people understood and were able to manage their basic sanitation and its facilities.
