| Millennium Development Goals (The MDGs)
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight international development goals that 192 United Nations member states and at least 23 international organizations have agreed to achieve by the year 2015. They include reducing extreme poverty, reducing child mortality rates, fighting epidemics, and developing a global partnership for societal development. Appointed General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Good Neighbors is a representative organization and participates in the movement to eradicate poverty with other worldwide development NGOs. Here's what we're doing: |
| |
We provide a means to earn income by raising livestock, providing small loans, cultivation of crops, and by other means. |
| |
We work to protect and promote the rights of children to education by both managing and supporting schools. |
| |
We work to empower women through higher education. |
We work for better health and sanitation by supplying medical services and treatment for children. |
We provide medical examinations and education for pregnant women. |
We educate on prevention and treatment for various diseases and supply preventative medicine for malaria. |
We develop drinking water supplies and improve living conditions by replacing roofs and installing toilets. |
We provide vocational education in order to raise spokespeople for their own communities. We enable locals to develop their own areas by providing computer education and global citizenship education. |
