1. Cambodia Head Office
Cambodia is a country located in the southern portion of the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. It is bordered by Thailand to the northwest, Laos to the northeast, Vietnam to the east, and the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest. In 2002, Good Neighbors launched a community development project in the province of Banteay Meanchey, and is currently running four projects in the area. The local people in Banteay Meanchey live near the border of Thailand, are very poor, and most work illegally in the country because of the scarcity of jobs in their community.
Residents also have little access to clean water and few educational programs for children. Good Neighbors’ comprehensive development projects focus on health and sanitation, improving the local environment, supporting school meal programs, health care services, and income generation. With these projects, Good Neighbors strives to give local people a better standard of living, especially for children.
2. Vaing Moueng Community Development Project
Good Neighbors’ community development project in Vaing Moueng has been active since 2004, working to improve local residents’ quality of life. Through the Vaing Moueng daycare center, 80 preschoolers are currently enrolled in school and have access to school meals, health check-up services, after-school activities, and sanitation programs. The development project is also building reservoirs and distributing water purifiers to help develop the region’s agricultural industry and improve drinking water conditions.
3. Banoy Community Development Project
Good Neighbors has been working in Banoy since 2008. We built the region an elementary school and currently provide the students with school supplies, hot lunches, health screenings, and after-school activities. Our organization also built the community public toilets and distributed water purifiers so local residents would have easy access to clean water, helping promote healthy and hygienic living conditions.
4. Koun Trei Community Development Project
Good Neighbors Cambodia launched a community development project for Koun Trei in 2010, providing irrigation facilities and farming techniques to locals. The organization also supported an elementary school with a playground, school supplies, after-school programs, hot meals at lunch, and hygiene education. In addition to educational opportunities for children, Good Neighbors Cambodia installed toilets for the community and lent livestock to residents to invest in their farming careers.
5. Souphi Community Development Project
The Souphi community development project was started in 2011 to provide children with a quality education, school supplies, after-school programs, and to improve the community’s overall enrollment rate. In an effort to improve the health and hygiene of locals, Good Neighbors Cambodia also installed public toilets and water purifiers for the area.
