Good Neighbors arrived in Chile in response to the earthquake and tsunami in February 2010, where volunteers from Good Neighbors International provided immediate humanitarian aid to affected communities. This urgent response laid the groundwork for the organization’s long-term development efforts in the country.
In 2011, Good Neighbors Chile was officially established with authorization from the Ministry of Justice. Over the past few years, the organization has focused on consolidating educational programs for school students, emphasizing gender equity, socio-emotional skill development, gamification, and innovation. A significant milestone was reached in 2019 with the creation of a social enterprise dedicated to providing educational services, which has provided over 10,000 scholarships for educational leveling and vocational training through partnerships with the private sector.
Today, Good Neighbors Chile operates from its central office in Santiago and has expanded its activities to Valparaíso and El Carmen. The organization continues to support quality education, promote human rights, and respond to emergencies, making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable people throughout the country.
We empower individuals in their communities, especially children and adolescents, by creating sustainable development opportunities in education, solidarity, and the promotion of human rights. Good Neighbors Chile prioritizes the following transformative strategic lines:
Our interventions align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Overall, we have contributed to four of the 17 goals, with the most significant contributions being to SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 10 (reduced inequalities), and SDG 13 (climate action).
