Good Neighbors Laos

Good Neighbors Laos has been officially registered under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Laos since 2012. Since then, we have initiated two community development projects: one in Meun district, Vientiane province, and another in Mok district, Xiengkhuang province. These projects focus on community-based education initiatives, aiming to improve access to quality education services through integrated education efforts.

Currently, Good Neighbors Laos operates under two significant agreements. The first is the Community-based Education Project, Phase III in Meun CDP, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sport and represented by the Vientiane Provincial Education and Sport Department. The second is the Mother and Child Health, Nutrition, and Hygiene Strengthening project in PakOu District, Luang Prabang province, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, represented by the Luang Prabang Provincial Health Department.

To broaden our impact and encourage more actors to join our movement, Good Neighbors Laos has been actively building networks with various organizations. These include the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH), as well as numerous Laotian civil society organizations and companies.

Our Actions

Good Neighbors Laos aims to support all Lao citizens within our project areas to access quality education, improve health conditions with a focus on mothers and children, and develop highly skilled communities to enhance their living environments through income generation.

  • Education: We have established an action plan aligned with government directives, covering education from early childhood education (ECE) to the secondary school level. The focus is on increasing awareness, enthusiasm, and support, stimulating self-mobilization and action, and mobilizing knowledge through activities. We strive to ensure that students are confident in taking on responsibilities and seizing opportunities that will brighten their futures.
  • Health: We improve health services by providing essential medical equipment and better health facilities at the primary level and within the community. We encourage children under five in target villages to access comprehensive quality services in immunization, nutrition, and child development. The initiative also seeks to improve awareness of sexual and reproductive health among adolescents and ensure that people in target areas have access to clean drinking water, a stable water system, and basic hygiene and sanitation awareness.
  • Income Generation: We support target communities in improving their socioeconomic conditions to enhance livelihoods and income. We encourage the formation of community development committees and income generation groups, which play important roles in sharing life skills, information, and monitoring to ensure activities proceed smoothly and have long-term positive impacts. Additionally, we encourage community access to Savings and Credit Unions (SCUs).
