Good Neighbors International in Nicaragua

Good Neighbors initiated its interventions in Nicaragua in 2016 with a project to improve school infrastructure in the Tipitapa municipality. Later, to create a lasting impact, Good Neighbors International in Nicaragua began its first community development project in the Jinotepe municipality, supporting the development of 500 children.

Currently, we are working in 96 communities in Carazo, assisting 8,207 children and 8,684 families. We are implementing various projects in education, health, environment, social economy, disaster risk reduction (DRR), child protection, and other areas.

Our Actions

Since 2016, Good Neighbors International in Nicaragua has been committed to strengthening community development, focusing on:

  • Education: We improve the quality of education, promote reading skills, and enhance the impact of robotics and child rights protection in partnership with government bodies. Additionally, we help prepare youth for independent living.
  • Health: We prevent illnesses and child malnutrition in collaboration with private enterprises and local governments, and provide specialized medical follow-up for sponsored children.
  • Social Economy: We involve families in activities that improve nutritional diets and promote family entrepreneurship, as well as fostering the organization of savings and credit cooperatives.
  • Disaster Risk Reduction: We promote disaster risk prevention and community anticipatory actions in collaboration with government institutions.
  • Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH): We improve access to safe water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene in schools and communities. We also promote the adoption of healthy hygiene habits as a means of disease prevention.

Through these actions, we remain committed to sustainable development and community welfare. Good Neighbors International’s efforts in Nicaragua address the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
