Good Neighbours UK

We are committed to empowering communities to meet their health, education, economic, and social development needs and to building their resilience to climate change. Good Neighbors UK prioritizes the following transformative actions:

• Health: We are enhancing the health of women and children. We are improving maternal and neonatal services and promoting check-ups, delivering mental health and psychosocial support to children affected by conflict and natural disasters. Through culturally appropriate social mechanisms such as girls’ clubs and mother mentors’ groups, we are improving health education and reducing child marriages and adolescent pregnancies.
• Education: We are enhancing the quality of education for children and youth. We are building new schools, improving accessibility and inclusivity in existing schools, training teachers, providing quality educational materials, empowering children with disabilities to understand and claim their right to education, and working with parents and governments to ensure sustained changes.
• Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): We are improving access to safe drinking water and sanitation. We are installing water pumps and building latrines and sanitation facilities for families, schools, and community health centers. We set up and train community water committees to manage and maintain WASH infrastructure. We also raise community awareness of good hygiene practices and provide basic sanitation kits to girls.
• Promotion of Women and Children’s Rights: We empower women and children to exercise their rights. We are training women and children to understand and exercise their rights and to raise awareness in their communities and with local governments. We advocate to local and national governments to fulfill their duties to respect, protect, and fulfill the rights of women and children.
• Humanitarian Assistance: We deliver humanitarian relief to people suffering from natural as well as man-made disasters. We support Good Neighbors’ global emergency response to natural disasters and conflicts to deliver humanitarian relief to people in need. In 2022, we implemented a UNICEF-funded project in Romania, delivering psychosocial support to Ukrainian child refugees.

Our interventions are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Overall, we have contributed to five of the 17 goals, with the largest contributions being to SDG 3 (good health), SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 5 (gender equality), and SDG 6 (clean water).
