Good Neighbors Jordan

Good Neighbors launched its mission in Jordan in July 2020, focusing on supporting vulnerable populations, including refugees, by addressing immediate humanitarian needs and promoting human rights and self-reliance. In 2021, we expanded our efforts to include long-term projects aimed at fostering sustainable community development. By 2022-2023, we had established partnerships and initiatives in 10 governorates, impacting 33 locations and 7 Palestinian camps, reaching 70 schools, and supporting 4,584 vulnerable girls, including 855 with disabilities.

Today, Good Neighbors Jordan operates in Amman, Mafraq, Irbid, and Zarqa, working across sectors such as livelihood, water and sanitation, climate change, localization, protection, child protection, psychosocial support, and the green economy. Our initiatives now benefit over 45,000 individuals, including Jordanians and refugees from Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Palestine, and beyond. Through solidarity and long-term partnerships, we continue to empower people and transform communities.

Our Actions

Committed to advancing children’s rights in education, health, and socio-economic development, we prioritize the following transformative actions in Jordan:

  • Livelihoods: To foster economic self-sufficiency and resilience among refugees and local communities, we implement vocational training programs, support entrepreneurship, provide financial assistance and guidance for small business development, and promote women’s economic empowerment through targeted training and resources.
  • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): Aiming to improve access to clean water and sanitation while promoting hygiene practices, we construct and upgrade water supply and sanitation facilities, conduct hygiene education workshops and community outreach, and ensure equitable access to water and sanitation services for marginalized groups.
  • Climate Change: To enhance community resilience to climate impacts and promote environmental sustainability, we support climate adaptation projects such as sustainable agriculture and water management, and raise awareness about climate change and sustainability within communities.
  • Localization: By empowering local communities and strengthening their capacity for self-management and development, we partner with local organizations to implement community-driven projects, build local capacity through training and resources for community leaders, and support local governance and development initiatives.
  • Psychosocial Support: To improve mental health and emotional well-being among affected individuals, we train trainers to implement the psychosocial support program. Furthermore, we develop a mobile application designed to help children cope with and recover from the emotional impacts of conflicts and natural disasters.
  • Green Economy: Promoting environmentally sustainable economic practices and supporting green initiatives, we encourage green business practices, support eco-friendly technologies, and educate communities about the benefits of a green economy.

Our interventions align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Overall, we have contributed to 9 of the 17 goals, with the largest contributions being to SDGs 1 (No Poverty), 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), 4 (Quality Education), 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 13 (Climate Action), and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
