Gaza Strip (21 October 2024) – Good Neighbors supported internally displaced persons (IDPs) and persons with disabilities (PWDs) affected by the Israel-Hamas Conflict in the Gaza Strip, carrying out emergency response efforts in collaboration with the Italian NGO, EducAid.
The humanitarian situation remains catastrophic and is worsening. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), as reported by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 1.9 million people are internally displaced. Of these, 495,000 face food insecurity and lack basic health and sanitary support.
Despite ongoing bombings and critical challenges, a total of 260 households—approximately 1,709 individuals—received hygiene and dignity kits. These kits included essential items such as soap, sanitary pads, body wash, cotton towels, and shampoo. The distribution took place in the central area of the Gaza Strip, specifically in the refugee camps in Deir al-Balah, Mughraqa, and Al-Maghazi.
EducAid, Good Neighbors’ partner for this emergency response, has a strong field presence, understands the complex political landscape, and maintains effective communication networks. They have been actively supporting affected families in Gaza.
Good Neighbors is strategically planning to enhance its interventions in the Middle East, particularly focusing on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. This initiative will involve collaborating with local or international organizations. By establishing a more substantial presence in these areas, Good Neighbors hopes to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those suffering from the consequences of conflict and displacement, ultimately working towards a more sustainable commitment.
