Good Neighbors humanitarian response
Emergency Appeal
Last Updated: 1 Jul 2026
A state of national emergency has been declared in Venezuela after two powerful earthquakes, measuring magnitude 7.1 and 7.5, struck the country’s north-central region in quick succession.
In a matter of moments, cities were reduced to rubble: major airports sustained heavy damage, and dozens of hotels, hospitals, and residential buildings collapsed beyond recognition.
The tremors were strong enough to be felt felt across borders, and the disaster has left the region’s healthcare and medical infrastructure paralysed. Relief for survivors is now urgently needed.

With power supplies cut off and water sources contaminated, residents and families forced into the streets have been left to face a severe struggle for survival.
As the fear of aftershocks continues, displaced families have been left without even basic hygiene supplies, leaving them dangerously exposed to the risk of waterborne disease. Many of those pulled from the debris are injured yet unable to receive proper medical care, and for countless families, surviving even a single day without help has become almost impossible.
