Good Neighbors humanitarian response
Emergency Appeal
Last Updated: 27 Jul 2026
A state of national emergency has been declared in Venezuela after two powerful earthquakes, measuring magnitude 7.1 and 7.5, struck the country’s north-central region in quick succession.
In a matter of moments, cities were reduced to rubble: major airports sustained heavy damage, and dozens of hotels, hospitals, and residential buildings collapsed beyond recognition.
The tremors were strong enough to be felt felt across borders, and the disaster has left the region’s healthcare and medical infrastructure paralysed.
One month has passed; the emergency is far from over. Thousands of families remain displaced and communities across the affected region continue to depend on emergency food, shelter, and medical support. Relief for survivors remains urgently needed.
